BAKER, DONELSON, BEARMAN, CALDWELL & BERKOWITZ Bradley Clanton has been named partner at Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz. Clanton, 37, practices government, appellate, and commercial litigation, as well as securities and election law. Before joining the firm in 2003, he served as chief counsel to the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution. He earned his law degree from the Mississippi College School of Law.
BAKER & HOSTETLER Jack Blum, 65, has joined Baker & Hostetler as of counsel in the firm’s white-collar defense and corporate investigations practice, where he will represent businesses in congressional and internal investigations involving money laundering, tax enforcement, governmental investigations, and compliance. Blum served as counsel to several Senate committees, where he assisted in investigations such as those of Manuel Noriega’s drug trafficking and of Lockheed Martin’s bribery scandal. Previously, he was concurrently of counsel at Rosner Moscow & Napierala and Lobel, Novins & Lamont. Blum earned his J.D. from Columbia University Law School.
BROWNSTEIN HYATT FARBER SCHRECK Two attorneys have joined Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck as partners. Alexander Dahl, 39, concentrates on government relations, antitrust, and litigation. Previously, Dahl served in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, where he prosecuted drug-distribution and illegal-firearms cases in the felony trial section. Before that, he served as deputy staff director and senior counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee, managing operations for Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah). He earned his J.D. from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law. James Flood focuses on white-collar criminal investigations, antitrust law, and government relations. Before joining the firm, Flood, 43, served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. He also served as counsel to Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Flood received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
BRYAN CAVE Susan Kovarovics, 35, has been hired by Bryan Cave as counsel in the firm’s international trade practice and its corporate compliance and defense practice. Kovarovics advises clients on export controls, trade sanctions, compliance, and anti-boycott and anti-corruption issues, as well as conducting internal audits. Before joining the firm, she was a partner at Foley & Lardner, where she dealt with international trade and corporate compliance. Kovarovics received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
DEWEY BALLANTINE Devon Bodoh has been elected partner at Dewey Ballantine. Bodoh, 33, practices tax law and planning, advising clients on restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and other tax strategies. Prior to joining the firm in 2000 as an associate, he was a senior consultant with Deloitte & Touche. Bodoh earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and his LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law.
JANIS, SCHUELKE & WECHSLER David Deitch has joined Janis, Schuelke & Wechsler as a partner. He will concentrate on white-collar criminal defense and general civil litigation. Deitch, 43, joins the firm from the Justice Department, where he served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the District and as a trial attorney in the Counterterrorism Section of the National Security Division. He received his law degree from New York University School of Law.
JONES DAY Eric Namrow, 39, has come aboard at Jones Day as a partner. An intellectual-property lawyer, Namrow focuses on patents, trademark and trade dress, copyright, trade-secret misappropriation, and unfair competition. He joins from Venable, where he was a partner, and he earned his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law.
U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA Two lawyers have joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia as assistant U.S. attorneys. Jonathan Hooks, 33, practices in the misdemeanor trial section. Previously, he was a staff attorney at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, where he worked on housing and community development. Prior to that he was an associate at Arnold & Porter, where he practiced in the firm’s antitrust and intellectual-property groups. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School. Scott Sroka practices in the domestic-violence misdemeanor section. Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Sroka, 34, served as counsel to Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on the Judiciary Committee. He has also been an associate at Phillips, Lytle, Hitchcock, Blaine & Huber in Buffalo, N.Y. Sroka earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
VORYS, SATER, SEYMOUR and PEASE Philip Gallas has joined Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease as of counsel. Gallas, 53, practices in the firm’s international trade and customs section, advising domestic and foreign manufacturers and exporters, governments, global retailers, U.S. importers, and trade associations on international trade issues. Before joining the firm, he was a partner at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal. Gallas earned his J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law. — Attila Berry
