Chicago — Paul Hastings, Janofsky & Walker has hired former Conseco Inc. chiefexecutive officer William S. Kirsch in its new Chicago office as a partnerto lead the global private equity practice, the firm said in a release.Kirsch, 50, left Conseco in May of this year, saying he was looking forwardto exploring new opportunities and spending more time with his family. Priorto joining Conseco in 2004, he led Chicago-based Kirkland & Ellis’s privateequity practice and served in many management positions during 23 years atthat firm. His clients have included Bank of America Global Equity Group,Sun Capital Partners and Olympus Partners.

Alex Dimitrief, 47, will leave the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis tobecome vice president and senior counsel of litigation and legal policy atGeneral Electric Co. on Feb. 1, the Fairfield, Connecticut-based companysaid in a statement today. Dimitrief, who has worked on bankruptcy, productliability and regulatory matters among other things, including the UnitedAirlines reorganization, has been at Kirkland since 1986 and became apartner in 1991. Dimitrief will leave Chicago to live in Connecticut.
