SAN FRANCISCO The American College of Trial Lawyers elected five new members to its board of regents, including Robert Goodin, one of the founding partners of Goodin, MacBride, Squeri, Ritchie & Day. Goodin, who focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, is a 1974 graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law. Erick Howard and James Frolik will become equity partners with Shartsis Friese, effective Jan. 1, 2007. Howard, who has been with the firm since 2002, specializes in intellectual property litigation. He graduated from University of Chicago Law School in 1996. Frolik has been with the firm since he graduated form Boalt Hall School of Law in 2000. He is a member of the investment adviser and hedge fund practice. Courtney Huizar has joined Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass as an associate in the litigation practice. Huizar comes to the firm from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. She received her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2003. SILICON VALLEY Partners Mark Bonino and Lawrence Guslani and associates Maria Quintero and Benjamin Larson have joined Hayes, Davis, Bonino, Ellingson, McLay & Scott in Redwood Shores. All four attorneys come to the firm from Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley. Bonino focuses his practice on complex commercial, insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. He graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1976. Guslani specializes in insurance coverage and complex commercial litigation. He received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1982. Quintero focuses her practice on civil appeals and insurance bad faith. She is a 2002 graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law. Larson focuses his practice on civil appeals, insurance coverage and civil litigation. He graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2004. Dechert has added two first-year associates to its intellectual property group in Palo Alto. Lynde Lintemuth and Nathan Peters both graduated this year from University of Michigan Law School. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Maggie Catbagan has joined Major, Lindsey & Africa as director of business development in its Los Angeles office. Catbagan previously worked as director of business development and recruiting for Kelly Law Registry in L.A. She is a 1998 graduate of University of San Diego School of Law. Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps has added Rick Frimmer as a partner in the San Diego office. Frimmer, who was formerly with Greenberg Traurig, is a member of the business/corporate practice group. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1976.
