To the editor: Your profile of the illustrious David Ginsburg ( “At the Edge of History,” May 29, 2006, Page 1) coincided with my own first meeting with this Washington legal legend. My recent lunch with Mr. Ginsburg was prompted by the discovery that he has a collection of 16 paintings by the Washington artist Max Weyl, my great-grandfather, including two on display in his office at Powell Goldstein. He told me that he chose these artworks to complement his house, which once belonged to Justice Hugo Black (a house he said Kay Graham implored him to buy instead of an apartment at the Watergate). What started as a discussion of our common interest in late-1800s landscapes of Rock Creek Park by my relative proceeded to a lively discussion of politics and law from 1935 to the present. I obviously was struck, as was your reporter, by the intersections of Mr. Ginsburg’s life with defining moments and decision-makers in our nation’s history over the past century. When David Ginsburg observed to me that the incumbent president was, in his view, the poorest since Warren Harding, I was in no position to disagree. Christopher Wolf Washington, D.C.
