Rockville, Md.-based IT company Client Network Services Inc. learned the hard way that it isn’t only professors who care about font size and page limits. According to a decision last month by the Government Accountability Office, CNSI’s bid for a five-year Transportation Department contract was nixed in part because one section of its bid used too small a font and went six pages over the limit. The GAO denied a protest filed by CNSI when the DOT awarded Computer Sciences Corp. a contract to provide support services to its Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, a research institute in Cambridge, Mass. Represented by William Walsh, Scott Hommer, and Peter Riesen of Venable’s Vienna, Va., office, CNSI claimed the DOT’s criteria were unreasonable and biased in favor of CSC, the incumbent contractor.
