Dorsey & Whitney has named Marianne Short as managing partner of the 638-attorney firm. Short, a trial attorney, joined Dorsey & Whitney in 1977. In 1988, she became judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals and in 2000 rejoined the firm, which has its largest office in Minneapolis. Short will replace Peter Hendrixson as managing partner in January, when he will complete his second term as the firm’s leader.

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has elected David Crichlow as managing partner of its New York office. A commercial litigator, Crichlow will lead a four-member management committee that oversees about 130 attorneys. Crichlow, who has spent his 17-year career with Pillsbury Winthrop, replaces Susan Kohlmann, who will return full time to an intellectual property litigation practice.
