NEW PARTNERS Akerman Senterfitt (Orlando, Fla.): Alexander Ren� joins the corporate compliance and white-collar criminal defense group as partner in the firm’s Washington office. He was most recently of counsel to the global litigation group at Howrey of Washington. Alston & Bird (Atlanta): Bruce Pasfield joins the environmental and land-use group as partner in the firm’s Washington office. He is a former assistant chief of the environmental crimes section of the Department of Justice. Bingham McCutchen: Daniel M. McGillycuddy joins the white-collar crime and business regulation practice group as partner in the firm’s New York office. He is a former New York County assistant district attorney. Duane Morris (Philadelphia): Keith Ellis returns to the corporate practice group as partner in the firm’s Wilmington, Del., office. He was previously general counsel of County Bank in Delaware. He has also served as minority counsel to the Committee on Banking, Finance and Urban Affairs in the U.S. House of Representatives. Katten Muchin Rosenman: Allison W. Berman joins the real estate practice as partner in the firm’s New York office. She was most recently senior vice president, general counsel and secretary to Falcon Financial Investment Trust, a real estate investment trust specializing in originating and servicing loans to auto dealers. NEW COUNSEL Beveridge & Diamond (Washington): Lydia Gonz�lez comes on board as of counsel to the firm’s newly opened Austin, Texas, office. She was previously deputy director of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Latham & Watkins: Jane Summers joins the finance department as of counsel to the firm’s New York office. She was previously executive vice president and general counsel at the Loan Syndications & Trading Association. Pepper Hamilton (Philadelphia): April M. Byrd joins the health effects litigation practice group as of counsel to the firm’s home office. She was most recently assistant U.S. attorney in the criminal division of the U.S. attorney’s office in Wilmington, Del. Preston Gates & Ellis (Seattle): James Rogan joins the intellectual property litigation and policy practices as of counsel to the firm’s Irvine, Calif., offices. Rogan served two terms as a representative from California in the U.S. House of Representatives and, from 2001 to 2004, as undersecretary of commerce and director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. NEW ARRIVALS Schiff Hardin (Chicago): Two attorneys join the intellectual property group in the firm’s New York office-as partner, David Jacoby and as of counsel, Judith S. Roth. They were both previously partners at Phillips Nizer of New York. FIRM PROMOTIONS Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly (Minneapolis): Six attorneys have been elected to the partnership-Stacey L. Senkus (commercial real estate). LATERALS Buchanan Ingersoll (Pittsburgh): William A. DeStefano joins the white-collar defense practice as partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office. He was previously a partner at Saul Ewing of Philadelphia. Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton (New York): W. Clayton Johnson joins the capital markets practice as partner, based in the firm’s Hong Kong office and the Beijing office, scheduled to open early in 2006. He was previously a partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York. Dechert: H. Jeffrey Schwartz joins the bankruptcy and reorganization practice as partner in the firm’s New York office. He was previously chairman of the business reorganization department at Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff of Cleveland. Linklaters (London): Adele Hogan joins the capital markets practice as partner in the firm’s New York office. She was previously a partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore of New York. Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone (Detroit): John D. Leslie joins the Canadian law group as partner in the firm’s Windsor, Ontario, Canada, office. ELECTED David Beck has been named president-elect of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He will become president at the college’s annual meeting in London in September 2006 and serve for a one-year term. Beck, co-founder of Beck, Redden & Secrest of Houston, is a past president of the State Bar of Texas. APPOINTED Jonathan L. Levin, a partner in the financial services regulatory practice group in the Philadelphia office of Reed Smith, has been appointed co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Joint Privacy Task Force.
