KELLEY DRYE & WARREN Glenn Manishin has been named chair of Kelley Drye & Warren’s litigation practice in the Washington, D.C., and Tysons Corner, Va., offices. He also writes and lectures frequently, appearing as a commentator on CNN, CBS, Bloomberg, PBS, Fox News, and NPR, as well as in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, and Business Week.
PATENT PUBLIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE Gerald Mossinghoff, senior counsel at Oblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt, has been named for the third time to the Patent Public Advisory Committee. He was appointed by Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez. Mossinghoff previously served two consecutive terms, beginning in 2000.
COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE WOMEN Maureen Dwyer, managing partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, will be honored with the Commercial Real Estate Women Annual Achievement Award on Oct. 6. Dwyer is being recognized for her more than 20 years of pioneering work in land use and zoning that has shaped the District.
D.C. DEFENSE LAWYERS ASSOCIATION Nicholas McConnell, chair of the health law practice group and director of the business law and general litigation practice groups at Jackson & Campbell, has been named “Lawyer of the Year” by the D.C. Defense Lawyers Association. A frequent writer and lecturer for continuing legal education and health care risk management programs, McConnell has served on the D.C. Bar’s CLE Committee and as a faculty member and team leader for numerous National Institute of Trial Advocacy-affiliated programs.
LEADERSHIP FAIRFAX INC. Dean Wayne Rutley of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice has been selected to participate in the Class of 2006 of Leadership Fairfax Inc., which selects an elite group of present and future leaders of the county. Established in 1987, Leadership Fairfax is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization designed to provide programs and opportunities that enhance the quality of life in Fairfax County by developing its current and emerging leaders at the county, state, and regional levels.
JEWISH COMMUNITY RELATIONS COUNCIL Deborah Cohn, a member of Paley Rothman’s estate planning, estate and trust administration, and employee benefits practice groups, has joined the board of the Jewish Community Relations Council.
AMERICAN COLLEGE OF BOND COUNSEL Rick Weiss, managing partner of Foley & Lardner’s D.C. office, has been elected to a second term as president of the American College of Bond Counsel.
