SAN FRANCISCO Hinshaw & Culbertson has added two partners to its San Francisco office. Cassidy Chivers focuses on complex insurance coverage disputes and insurance litigation. Anne O’Niell specializes in insurance coverage and insurance bad faith defense, and is experienced in insurance coverage analysis, litigation and negotiation. Laurence Sawyer, a retired Sonoma County Superior Court judge, has joined JAMS in San Francisco. Judge Sawyer was appointed to the Sonoma court in 1985 and served as presiding judge from 1998-2000. He received his J.D. from Hastings College of the Law in 1967. SOUTH BAY Founding partner and firm chairman Timothy Tomlinson has been named managing partner of Tomlinson Zisko. Tomlinson, who is a member of the Palo Alto firm’s corporate finance practice group, is a 1976 graduate of Stanford Law School. EAST BAY McDonough Holland & Allen has added Edward “Ned” Mathes and Benjamin Winig as associates in its Oakland office. Mathes joins the firm’s health care law group. He is a 2001 graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law. Winig joins the public law group. He received his J.D. in conjunction with a Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin in 2004. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Jason Kim has joined Hinshaw & Culbertson as a partner in Los Angeles. He will focus on defense of workers’ compensation claims, representing self-insured employers. He will also serve on the defense panel for Chubb Insurance and Tri-Star Risk Management. Alschuler Grossman Stein & Kahan has added partners Lee Weinberg and Louis Dienes to the transactional department in Santa Monica. Weinberg is a 1987 graduate of Yale University Law School, while Dienes graduated from Stanford Law School in 1994. Francisco Aparicio and Duccio Mortillaro have joined Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley as of counsels in Los Angeles, expanding the firm’s international practice. Aparicio graduated from UCLA School of Law in 1987. Mortillaro received J.D.s from University of Milan School of Law in 1985 and University of Miami School of Law in 1993. He also earned an LL.M. from UCLA School of Law in 1986. Gary Taylor, a retired U.S. District Court judge for the Central District, has joined JAMS. Taylor, who will be based in Southern California, graduated from UCLA School of Law in 1963.
