BLANK ROME Blank Rome announces two new additions. Albert Krachman, 48, a government contracts specialist, has joined as a partner in the firm’s public contracts practice group. He was previously a partner at Bracewell & Giuliani. He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. Evan Smith has joined as senior counsel in the firm’s intellectual property and technology practice group. Smith, 41, was previously of counsel at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. CADWALADER, WICKERSHAM & TAFT Bruce Hiler, 53, has joined Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft as a partner in its D.C. office and will serve as chairman of the new securities and financial institutions regulatory department. Hiler was formerly a partner and chair of the securities enforcement and regulatory counseling practice at O’Melveny & Myers. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. CHADBOURNE & PARKE Keith Rosen has joined the white-collar defense group at Chadbourne & Parke as counsel. Rosen, 34, was previously an assistant U.S. attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware. He earned his J.D. from Yale Law School. DLA PIPER RUDNICK GRAY CARY Geoffrey Willard, 35, has joined the Reston, Va., office of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary as a partner in the emerging growth and venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate and securities practice groups. Willard, who was an associate at Cooley Godward, received his law degree from American University Washington College of Law. DYKEMA GOSSETT Joseph Summerill, a government contracts specialist, has joined as a partner in Dykema Gossett’s government policy practice. Summerill, 38, had been of counsel at Barnes & Thornburg. He received his J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center. GREENBERG TRAURIG Greenberg Traurig has added a new director of governmental affairs and two new partners. Former Rep. Matthew Salmon (R-Ariz), director of governmental affairs, will be working out of the firm’s D.C. and Phoenix offices. Salmon, 47, was formerly the head of his own public relations firm in Arizona. Richard Burton, 50, has joined the Tysons Corner, Va., office as a partner in the firm’s tax practice group. He was most recently the senior vice president-general tax counsel at Host Marriott Corp. He received his J.D. from S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah and his LL.M. in taxation from Boston University School of Law. Marvin Ehrlich, 39, has joined the Tysons Corner office as a partner focusing on commercial real estate and secured transactions. Ehrlich had been counsel at Andrews Kurth. He earned his J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law. HOWREY Allan Colman has joined Howrey as the firm’s first chief business development officer. He will work out of the firm’s D.C. and Los Angeles offices. Colman, 53, came from DecisionQuest, where he was one of the firm’s founding partners. HUNTON & WILLIAMS Hunton & Williams has announced that three former U.S. antitrust officials will join its competition practice group. R. Hewitt Pate, 42, will rejoin the firm as a partner and head of the competition practice group. Pate will split his time between the firm’s D.C. and Brussels, Belgium, offices. He will begin after he steps down from his current position as assistant attorney general for antitrust at the U.S. Department of Justice on June 30. Pate received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. David Higbee will join the firm’s D.C. office as a partner. Higbee, 36, is currently a deputy assistant attorney general in the Antitrust Division at the Justice Department. He received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. Mel Orlans, 61, will join as counsel in the firm’s D.C. office. Formerly an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission, he received his J.D. from Columbia University Law School. KILPATRICK STOCKTON Kilpatrick Stockton announces the addition of two partners to the corporate department. Both attorneys come from Gardner Carton & Douglas and will focus on telecommunications law. Thomas Dougherty Jr., 51, received his J.D. from Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. Laura Mow, 47, received her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. MCGUIREWOODS Treva Saunders has joined the Tysons Corner, Va., office of McGuireWoods as an associate in the corporate services department. Saunders, 27, who was most recently a summer associate with the firm, earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. MINTZ LEVIN COHN FERRIS GLOVSKY AND POPEO Kemal Hawa, 34, has joined the D.C. office of Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo as a partner in the business and finance section. Hawa specializes in representing telecommunications and other technology clients on commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters. Previously with Chadbourne & Parke, Hawa received his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. OBER KALER GRIMES & SHRIVER Chiarra-May Stratton, 30, joins the D.C. office of Ober Kaler Grimes & Shriver as an associate in the health law department. Most recently, she was an associate in the health care group at Reed Smith. She received her J.D. from Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. PATTON BOGGS Jennifer Richter has joined the D.C. office of Patton Boggs as a partner in the public policy and lobbying and telecommunications and technology practices. She was of counsel in the telecommunications and technology transactions practice group at Morrison & Foerster. Richter, 38, received her J.D. from Drake University Law School. SCHIFF HARDIN Jeffrey Jacobovitz, 50, has joined Schiff Hardin as a partner and head of the litigation practice group in the firm’s D.C. office. Jacobovitz is also a member of the firm’s antitrust and trade regulation group and the white-collar defense and corporate compliance group. Formerly a partner and chair of the antitrust group at Kutak Rock, Jacobovitz has a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. SWIDLER BERLIN David Boillot, 56, has joined Swidler Berlin as a partner in the corporate and securities practice. Boillot, who will split his time between the firm’s New York and D.C. offices, was a partner with Springwell Capital Partners, a merchant banking firm in Stamford, Conn.
