New arrivals Alston & Bird (Atlanta): Nelson A. Boxer, formerly of Dechert, has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the litigation and trial, and securities litigation groups. Boxer focuses on white-collar criminal defense, Securities and Exchange Commission-related cases and commercial litigation. Archer & Greiner (Haddonfield, N.J.): Allen A. Etish has joined as a partner in the firm’s litigation department, resident in the principal office. He is the current secretary of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Lloyd H. Tubman has joined the land use practice as a partner, based in the Flemington, N.J., office. She was a negotiator and author of the New Jersey Freshwater Wetlands Protection Act. Baker & Hostetler: Joseph F. Hutchinson Jr. is a new partner in the firm’s business practice in Cleveland. P. Jay Hines is a new trademark and copyright law partner in Washington. Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod (Miami): The litigation group has added partner Patrick E. Gonya Jr. and associates Jennifer L. O’Connell and Annette M. Urena. The real estate practice has added Jonathan M. Cohen as a partner, Steven W. Simon as of counsel and Javier R. Lizarazu, Jason B. Myers and Lorelei A. Schumacher as associates. Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels (Boston): Madeleine M.L. Tan has joined the New York office as a new partner in the firm’s structured finance group. Her practice centers around asset-backed, tax-advantaged and structured finance transactions. Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft (New York): Bruce A. Hiler is a new partner in the firm’s Washington office, and will also serve as chairman of its newly created securities and financial institutions regulatory department. Previously with O’Melveny & Myers, Hiler concentrates in the areas of securities regulatory defense and securities litigation, regulatory and corporate counseling and internal investigations. Calfee, Halter & Griswold (Cleveland): Deneen LaMonica has joined the litigation group, resident in the home office. She specializes in products and premises liability defense claims and toxic tort claims. Early Cochran & Olson (Chicago): The executive search firm specializing in the recruitment of senior-level attorneys has added, as a principal, Laura Hagen, a founding partner of Major, Hagen & Africa. Goodwin Procter (Boston): The firm’s white-collar crime and government investigations practice has added to its roster David Pitofsky, who joins as a partner in its New York office. Most recently, he was principal deputy chief in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, for which he supervised approximately 100 prosecutors. Nixon Peabody: Dana K. Campbell (real estate), Eric R. Paley and Jocelyn Torres (both in labor and employment) have joined the firm’s Rochester, N.Y., office. Todd Peterson, a partner in the private equity team of the business practice group, has been added to the roster in New York. Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt: Susan L. Peterson, previously with Holland & Knight, has signed on as a member of the firm’s real estate practice in Seattle. Practicing with the real estate and corporate group, she focuses in personal and estate planning, notably for owners of closely held businesses. New counsel Greenberg Traurig: George B. Brunt has joined the firm’s Dallas office as of counsel. An intellectual property counselor and litigator, Brunt has served as general counsel for several global telecommunications and computer companies over the past 20 years, most recently, at Alcatel Americas of Plano, Texas. Spiegel & McDiarmid (Washington): Tillman J. Lay, with a specialty in telecommunications and television matters, is joining the public interest firm as of counsel. Prior to his arrival, he was senior counsel to Detroit-based Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone. Firm management Cozen O’Connor (Philadelphia): Senior member Elaine Rinaldi has been named director of strategic expansion, and will work closely with Chairman Stephen A. Cozen. Rinaldi joined the firm in 1982 and practices as a litigator in the subrogation and recovery group. Littler Mendelson (San Francisco): Marko Mrkonich has been tapped to lead the labor and employment law firm as its president/managing director. With Littler Mendelson for seven years, he practiced previously with the Minneapolis-based firm Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly. He becomes the first non-Californian in firm history to hold its top position. In-house International Creative Management Inc., a talent and literary agency based in Beverly Hills, Calif., has promoted General Counsel Richard B. Levy to the newly created position of chief operating officer. Prior to joining ICM, Levy practiced at Los Angeles’ Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in the employment and entertainment groups. Honored Dan Gelber, a Florida state representative and a partner at Washington-based Zuckerman Spaeder, has received the House Leadership Award from the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association, honoring his support of state attorneys. He also currently serves as vice chairman of the House Select Security Committee and on the Judicial Oversight and Justice Appropriations committees. Gelber’s practice focuses on complex civil, criminal and quasi-criminal litigation.
