CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICES Steven Schneebaum, a partner at Greenberg Traurig, has received the Catholic Community Services Monsignor Geno Baroni Caritas Advocacy Award for 2005. Schneebaum is the chairman and a founding member of the Archdiocesan Legal Network’s Advisory Council, which provides legal services for low income residents. DUPONT LEGAL Four additional D.C.-area firms: Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll; Kilpatrick Stockton; McGuireWoods and Shook, Hardy & Bacon were recipients of DuPont Legal’s 2004 Meeting the Challenge Award. Issued by DuPont to a select group of primary law firms and service providers, the award recognizes firms for service and accomplishments in support of the DuPont Legal Model. GAY MEN’S CHORUS OF WASHINGTON, D.C. Holland & Knight was the recipient of the Harmony Award for the firm’s pro bono work on behalf of five gay men seeking U.S. asylum. The Harmony Award recognizes individuals and organizations that exemplify the GMCW’s mission to “affirm the place of gay people in society.” MANATT, PHELPS & PHILLIPS R. Bruce Dickson was appointed head of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips’ D.C. litigation unit. He joined the firm in March 2005 from Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR LAW PLACEMENT Roger Goldman, a partner at Latham & Watkins, and Scott Michel, a partner at Caplin & Drysdale, were honored with the 2005 National Association for Law Placement Award of Distinction for Innovation. The award recognized Goldman and Michel, longtime friends and former classmates at the University of Virginia School of Law, for founding Buildable Hours, an organization that promotes the contribution of time and money by law firms to build homes for deserving families in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. POWELL GOLDSTEIN Alan Rugg has been elected by the board of directors as the new managing partner of the D.C. office of Powell Goldstein. Rugg is a partner in the litigation practice and has previously served on the firm’s board of partners. WASHINGTON BAR ASSOCIATION Jack Olender, of Jack Olender & Associates, was the recipient of the Charles Hamilton Houston Medallion of Merit from the Washington Bar Association.
