COUDERT BROTHERS William Coulter, a partner at Coudert Brothers, has been appointed chair of the firm’s global technology, media, and telecommunications practice. HUBERT H. HUMPHREY CIVIL RIGHTS AWARD NAACP Board of Directors Chairman Julian Bond will receive the 2005 Hubert H. Humphrey Civil Rights Award, to be presented May 4 by the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights. The award honors individuals and organizations that exemplify the late Vice President Hubert Humphrey’s legacy of “selfless and devoted service in the cause of equality.” LEGAL SERVICES PROGRAM OF WHITMAN-WALKER CLINIC The Legal Services Program of Whitman-Walker Clinic honored Howrey Simon Arnold & White for the firm’s outstanding legal work, in particularly for its service to people living with HIV/AIDS at its “Going the Extra Mile” benefit on in March. Over the past five years, Howrey has spent more than 2,500 hours on pro bono cases for Whitman-Walker clients, valued at more than $780,000. The cases taken by the law firm have ranged from complex discrimination and privacy actions to helping individuals living with HIV/AIDS manage their debt obligations. In addition, Howrey lawyers have provided assistance in raising funds for the Legal Services Program. LUTHER COLLEGE BOARD OF REGENTS David Lietz, a partner at Coale Cooley Lietz, was appointed to the Luther College Board of Regents. He is an alumnus of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
