CJP ELECTS NEW CHAIR AND VICE CHAIRMAN The Commission on Judicial Performance has elected a new chairman and vice chairman. Marshall Grossman, an attorney member of the commission who is also senior partner in the Los Angeles firm Alschuler Grossman Stein & Kahan, will serve as chair. His term expires in 2009. He was appointed to the commission by former Gov. Gray Davis in 2001 and was reappointed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger earlier this month. Grossman succeeds Third District Court of Appeal Justice Vance Raye, whose term on the commission expires this year. The commission’s new vice chairman is Orange County Superior Court Judge Frederick Horn, whose term also expires in 2009. Horn was appointed to the commission by the Supreme Court in 2003 and re-appointed this month. The CJP investigates allegations of misconduct against the state’s judges. The commission comprises 11 members appointed by the state Supreme Court, the governor, the Senate Rules Committee and the Speaker of the Assembly. Members serve four-year terms without compensation. — Jill Duman
