AMERICAN HEALTH LAWYERS The American Health Lawyers Association honored 40 of its past volunteer leaders by naming them to its inaugural class of fellows. The designation recognizes the expertise and contributions made to the 9,500-member professional association. A member is eligible to be named a fellow if he or she has been a member of the association for at least 15 years; has maintained an active practice; and has been actively involved in association activities. The following D.C.-area attorneys were named fellows: Thomas Fox and Eugene Tillman, of Reed Smith; Alan Goldberg, of Goulston & Storrs; Douglas Hastings, of Epstein Becker & Green; Thomas Hyatt, of Ober Kaler Grimes & Shriver; Marilou King, of the Department of Health and Human Services; Robert Leibenluft, of Hogan & Hartson; Gregory Luce, of Jones Day; and Joel Michaels, of McDermott Will & Emery. FLIGHT SAFETY FOUNDATION Kenneth Quinn, co-chair of Pillsbury Winthrop’s aviation, aerospace, and transportation practice, has been selected to serve as general counsel and secretary of the Flight Safety Foundation. He will also continue to help lead the firm’s aviation practice. Composed of more than 900 organizations around the world, the independent, nonprofit Flight Safety Foundation brings together the aviation industry, government, and academia to study, debate, and recommend aviation safety improvements and to implement industry standards. GEORGETOWN LAW CENTER Georgetown University Law Center professor Carrie Menkel-Meadow has been appointed to the newly established A.B. Chettle Jr. Chair in Dispute Resolution and Civil Procedure. Menkel-Meadow is also the director of the Hewlett-Georgetown Program in Conflict Resolution and Legal Problem Solving.
