San Francisco Silicon Counselhas added Thomas Butleras a partner in its securities and M&A practice. Butler began his career as a corporate attorney at Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps. He also served as general counsel of Semaphore Partners. Butler is a Harvard Law School graduate. Sacramento Downey Brandhas added 10 associates: Jarrod Burchreceived his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law at University of the Pacific. His focus will be trusts and estates. A corporate and securities lawyer, Robert Cloningerpreviously was with Chicago’s Schiff Hardin. He is a graduate of King Hall School of Law at UC-Davis. Elizabeth Grussenmeyer, a McGeorge School of Law graduate, will focus on corporate law. Nirav Desai, another McGeorge graduate, will have a civil litigation practice. Sean Filippinireceived his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. He also will practice civil litigation. Neil Forester, a McGeorge graduate, will practice family law. Her practice will focus on natural resources law. A Hastings College of the Law graduate, JasonHolder’s practice will focus on natural resources, with an emphasis on land use. Whitney McGuire, with a J.D. from Washington University School of Law, will focus on environmental compliance and litigation. Southern California Entertainment associate Nigel McNultyhas joined Manatt, Phelps& Phillips’ Los Angeles office. McNulty’s experience includes legal work for U.S. and Australian film and television companies. He joins the firm from the business and legal affairs group of DreamWorks SKG. McNulty also worked for Tress Cocks & Maddox Lawyers, an Australian entertainment law practice. Miriam Vogelhas joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter& Hampton’s entertainment and media practice in Century City. Most recently with Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, Vogel also worked in The White House Office of Public Liaison and the Office of Presidential Personnel. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2001.
