ACADEMY OF WOMEN ACHIEVERS Eleanor Hill, a partner in the D.C. office of King & Spalding, has been inducted into the YWCA’s Academy of Women Achievers, which was created to celebrate and promote the achievements of women in the workplace. Hill is in King & Spalding’s special matters/government investigations group, focusing her practice on homeland security, corporate investigations, and congressional investigations. She also served as staff director for Congress on the Sept. 11 Commission created in 2002, and previously as inspector general for the U.S. Department of Defense. HISPANIC BAR ASSOCIATION At the Equal Justice Awards ceremony earlier this month, the Hispanic Bar Association of D.C. honored those from the private and public sectors who have provided exceptional service to the Latino community. Those recognized were: Jose Lopez, a judge on the D.C. Superior Court and head of the court’s Probate Division. Lopez was honored with the Ricardo Urbina Lifetime Achievement Award. Rockville, Md., attorney Mayda Colon Tsaknis was recognized with the Hugh Johnson Memorial Award, as was the Latin American Youth Center. NATIONAL CAPITAL BUSINESS ETHICS AWARD Hunton & Williams has been given the 2004 National Capital Business Ethics Award, presented annually by the Greater Washington and Northern Virginia chapters of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, in partnership with George Mason University. The award recognizes a business outside the financial services industry that exemplifies a strong commitment to business excellence and civic and social responsibility.
