San Francisco Farella Braun & Martelhas hired new six associates. Jessica Beckett-McWalterjoins the employment practice with experience gained volunteering at San Francisco’s Cooperative Restraining Order Clinic. She is a 2004 graduate of Hastings College of the Law. Joining her in the employment practice is Amy Todd, formerly with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. She earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1999. Michael Maherjoins the business transactions practice from Latham & Watkins. He is a 2002 graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law. Also joining the business transactions practice is Jeremy Tarwater.Tarwater most recently was an associate at Latham & Watkins. He is a 2001 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. Sangeetha Raghunathanhas been added in the intellectual property and technology practice. Her experience includes serving as a law clerk to Magistrate Valerie Cooke in Reno and as a judicial extern to District Judge Charles Breyer. She is a 2003 Hastings graduate. Racheal Turner, joining the business litigation practice, worked at the Workers’ Rights Clinic in Berkeley and S.F. She received her J.D. in 2002 from Boalt Hall. Jodi Linkerhas been added as an associate in Clarence& Dyer’s criminal defense and civil litigation practice. Linker, a graduate of Stanford Law School, most recently completed a clerkship with U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer and served for four years as a legislative assistant to Sen. Barbara Boxer. Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Basshas added Ellen Aubrey Fredas an associate to the conservation easement practice group. Fred’s practice includes various areas of tax law with an emphasis on land conservation transactions and nonprofit tax issues. Before attending law school, Fred co-founded the Humboldt Watershed Council and served on the board of directors of the South Fork Trinity River Land Conservancy. She is a 2003 Hastings College of the Law graduate. California Chief Justice Ronald George has appointed Paul Fogel, an appellate partner at Reed Smith, to a three-year term on the 18-member Appellate Advisory Committee of the Judicial Council. He was nominated by Justice Joyce Kennard. Fogel served on the Appellate Rules Task Force, which over the last six years met to draft new rules. Fogel is a 1976 graduate of UCLA School of Law. South Bay Moser, Patterson & Sheridanhas added two attorneys to its Palo Alto office, Fred Kimand Mark O’Boyle. Kim, previously with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, joins the firm as of counsel. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. O’Boyle joins as an associate after serving as IP counsel for Flextronics International. He is a Golden Gate University School of Law graduate. Southern California Retired U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephen Haberfeldhas joined JAMS. Haberfeld was a magistrate for the Central District of California from 1988-92. Since then he has been a full-time neutral and served on the blue ribbon panels of the NASD and AAA and on the latter’s select panel for large and complex commercial cases. He is a 1970 graduate of Harvard Law School.
