New Partners Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges (Los Angeles): Peter E. Calamari comes aboard as partner in the firm’s New York office. He was previously a managing director of Credit Suisse First Boston. New Counsel Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy (New York): Dorothy Heyl come on board as of counsel to the litigation department in the firm’s New York office. She arrives from the enforcement division of the SEC, where she served as senior trial attorney in the New York office. Oblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt (Alexandria, Va.): Stephen G. Kunin comes on board as of counsel. He was previously deputy commissioner for patent examination policy at the PTO. Troutman Sanders (Atlanta): Kristina Nygaard joins as of counsel to the energy practice group in the firm’s Washington office. She previously served as assistant general counsel for hydroelectric licensing at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, acting as chief hydroelectric legal advisor to the commissioners. Zuckerman Spaeder (Washington): Eric Delinsky comes on board as counsel to the firm’s Washington office. A former assistant federal public defender, he will focus on white-collar criminal litigation. Laterals Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels (Boston): Raymer McQuiston joins the corporate group as partner in the firm’s New York office. He was previously a partner at Torys of New York. Katten Muchin Zavis Rosenman: Constance Hamilton Jameson joins the financial services practice group as partner in the firm’s New York office. She was previously a partner at Jones Day. Kaye Scholer (New York): William Hoffman joins the products liability group as partner in the firm’s Washington office. He was previously a partner at Arnold & Porter of Washington. Linklaters (London): Gary Barnett joins as partner in the firm’s New York office. He was previously a partner and co-head of the securitization and derivatives group at New York’s Shearman & Sterling. Reed Smith: Paul J. Bschorr joins the New York market trial practice group as partner. He was previously a partner at Dewey Ballantine of New York. New Arrivals Holland & Knight: Aurene M. Martin joins the Indian law practice group as partner in the firm’s Washington office. She was previously principal deputy assistant secretary of the interior for Indian affairs and, for more than a year, served as acting assistant secretary for Indian affairs. She has also served as senior counsel to the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs and as director of congressional and public affairs for the federal National Indian Gaming Commission. In addition, Christopher P. Cline joins the private wealth services section as partner in the firm’s Portland, Ore., office. He was previously a partner at the Portland office of Seattle’s Lane Powell Spears Lubersky. Kirkpatrick & Lockhart: Eight attorneys join the litigation practice in the firm’s Dallas office-as partners, James A. Lowery III, James A. Pranske, Michael John Ramirez and Warren R. Westberg; and as associates, Amy H. Ainsworth, Melinda Y. Balli, John W. Petereit and Angela S. Whittenberg. All but Westberg come from Godwin Gruber of Dallas. Westberg hails from McCauley, Macdonald & Devin, also of Dallas. Latham & Watkins: Eight attorneys join the firm’s Paris office-Thomas Forschbach, Nathalie Alibert, Ga�tan Gianasso, Marie-Chrystel Dang Tran, Alexander Benedetti, Fr�d�ric Berthier and Denis Criton. Forschbach, Alibert and Gianasso join as partners. Arriving from the Paris office of Ashurst, the team focuses on M&As and private equity financings. Manatt, Phelps & Phillips (Los Angeles): Two attorneys come on board in the firm’s main office-as partner, Mark J. Kelson, and as counsel, Scott J. Lochner. They both hail from Allen Matkins Leck Gamble & Mallory of Los Angeles, where Kelson headed the firm’s Century City corporate and securities group. New Offices Jones Day is opening a Moscow office, focusing on cross-border M&As, international capital markets and finance transactions. Vladimir Lechtman, a corporate partner who coordinates the firm’s practice in Russia and other countries that comprised the former Soviet Union, will serve as partner-in-charge of the office. Appointed Rebecca Edelson, litigation partner at Alschuler Grossman Stein & Kahan of Los Angeles, has been appointed to a one-year term as chairwoman of the executive committee of the intellectual property section of the State Bar of California. James E. Johnson, a litigation partner at New York’s Debevoise & Plimpton, has been named chairman of the board of the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law. Founded in 1995 as a living tribute to U.S. Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan Jr., the center litigates cases, drafts legislation, prepares amicus briefs and assists community organizations. A former undersecretary of the Treasury, Johnson serves as co-counsel in Johnson v. Bush, the center’s challenge to Florida’s laws disenfranchising ex-felons.
