SAN FRANCISCO Elizabeth Brownhas joined Covington& Burling’s litigation practice as an associate. Previously with Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe, Brown has managed a variety of large patent infringement, trademark, trade secret, antitrust and general litigation matters. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1996. The National Center for Lesbian Rights has hired Lena Ayoubas a staff attorney. An immigration rights specialist, Ayoub focuses on defending lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender clients in an effort to gain them asylum in the U.S. based on sexual orientation. Before joining NCLR, Ayoub practiced immigration law at the Law Office of Robert B. Jobe. Deborah Bailey-Wellshas been appointed administrative partner of Kirkpatrick& Lockhart’s San Francisco office and will serve on the management committee. Bailey-Wells focuses her practice on IP protection, with an emphasis on IP litigation and counseling. She succeeds former S.F. administrative partner Peter Sheats. She is a 1984 graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law. EAST BAY Fitzgerald, Abbott & Beardsleyhas added Robert Scribneras a partner in Oakland. Scribner specializes in business litigation, alternative dispute resolution and real estate law. He joins the firm from Fresno’s Kimble, MacMichael & Upton. He is a 1973 graduate of Hastings College of the Law. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Guylyn Cumminshas joined the San Diego office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hamptonas a partner in the entertainment and media group. Cummins, a media law specialist, joins the firm from Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich. She is a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law. Christopher Crainis the new senior vice president and general counsel of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, a Los Angeles international investment bank. Previously Crain served as general counsel of the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Milken Family Foundation.
