SAN FRANCISCO Paul Leboffeand Gregory Millerhave joined Davis Wright Tremaineas partners in the corporate finance practice. Leboffe represents early and mid-stage emerging growth companies in the tech sector, and his practice focuses on corporate governance, securities compliance, IP licensing and acquisitions. Previously Leboffe was a partner at White & Lee. He received his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law. Miller has been working with companies and investment banks in capital markets and venture transactions of equity and debt securities, M&A and new ventures since 1986. Before joining Davis Wright, Miller was general counsel of Cometa Networks Inc. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. Judge Richard Kirbyhas joined the workers’ compensation team at Fortune, Drevlow, O’Sullivan, Ciotoli & Hudson, the S.F. office of Zurich North America’s nationwide staff counsel organization. He joins Fortune, Drevlow after seven years of service on the Walnut Creek and Oakland Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. Kirby is a Boalt Hall School of Law graduate. SOUTH BAY Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Leonard Edwards IIhas been named recipient of the 2004 William H. Rehnquist Award for Judicial Excellence by the National Center for State Courts. The award is presented annually to a state court judge who exemplifies the highest level of judicial excellence, integrity, fairness and professional ethics. On the bench for nearly 25 years, Edwards’ efforts resulted in the juvenile dependency court being designated a national model by the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. And in 1999, Edwards established one of the country’s first dependency drug treatment courts. Greenberg Traurighas added former IRS litigator G. Michelle Ferreiraas of counsel in the East Palo Alto office. Along with tax matters, Ferreira has extensive experience in the estate planning and wealth preservation areas. During her IRS tenure, Ferreira litigated tax issues ranging from unreported income, bank deposits analysis and abusive trust transactions to business and personal expenses, oil and gas partnerships and estate and business evaluations. She received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Jan Handzlik, a nationally recognized white-collar crime specialist, has joined Howrey Simon Arnold& White’s global litigation practice group. A former federal prosecutor, Handzlik is a member of the review panel that evaluates the handling of police corruption investigations by the Los Angeles Police Department. He is a 1970 graduate of UCLA School of Law. Alschuler Grossman Stein & Kahanhas added M. Katharine Davidsonas a tax partner in the transactional department in Los Angeles. Davidson was formerly with Pillsbury Winthrop, where she was a tax partner and co-leader of the media and entertainment industry team. She received her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1984. Amy Wintersheimer Findleyhas joined the San Diego office of Allen Matkins Leck Gamble & Malloryas a partner in the labor and employment practice. A former partner at Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich, Findley brings substantial experience in an array of employment litigation matters. She received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1992.
