AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION Jeffrey Ritter, a partner at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, was one of six people honored with the American Bar Association’s 2004 Cyberspace Law Excellence Award for their report “The Commercial Use of Electronic Data Interchange — A Report and Model Trading Partner Agreement.” Also, Barry Boss, a partner at Cozen O’Connor, was appointed vice chair of the ABA Criminal Justice Section’s Corrections and Sentencing Committee. The committee studies issues affecting sentencing, inmates, and correctional institutions and testifies before the U.S. Sentencing Commission. Finally, Jack Gallagher, a partner at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, has been elected to a three-year term as management co-chair of the Railway Labor Act Subcommittee of the Labor and Employment Law Section. He was also elected to the membership of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. AMERICAN HEALTH LAWYERS ASSOCIATION Eric Zimmerman, a partner at McDermott, Will & Emery, was appointed chair of the American Health Lawyers Association’s regulation, accreditation, and payment practice group. The group addresses issues related to reimbursement, coverage, regulations, instructions, and health care accreditation. NATIONAL WOMEN’S BUSINESS CENTER OF WASHINGTON Singleton McAllister, chairwoman of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal’s public law and policy strategies group, was elected chairwoman of the National Women’s Business Center of Washington’s board of directors. The center provides women business owners with low-cost business training and support.
