BAKER & McKENZIE Baker & McKenzie announces the promotion of three new partners. Jeffrey Maydew, 34, specializes in business taxation, including domestic and international tax planning for mergers, acquisitions, and other major corporate transactions. He earned his J.D. at the University of Iowa College of Law and his LL.M. at Georgetown University Law Center. David Cole, 36, represents domestic and overseas companies in merger and acquisition transactions, joint ventures, and financial transactions including public and private offerings of debt and equity securities and senior and subordinated loan transactions. He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. Michael Murphy, 33, specializes in U.S. customs law and the administration and implementation of international agreements. He earned his J.D. at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. CADWALADER Charlie Wang has joined Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft as a partner in its capital markets department. Most recently Wang, 38, served as of counsel at Wiley Rein & Fielding. He earned his J.D. and LL.M. at Duke University School of Law. MILLER & CHEVALIER Duane Layton, 50, has joined Miller & Chevalier as a member in the international department. Most recently he was with King & Spalding. Layton received his J.D. from California Western School of Law and his LL.M. from Cambridge University in England. SONNENSCHEIN Thomas Jensen, 45, has joined Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal as a partner in the environmental and energy group. Prior to joining the firm, Jensen led the environmental and natural resources practice at Troutman Sanders. He earned his J.D. at Lewis and Clark College School of Law. STEPTOE & JOHNSON Steptoe & Johnson announces that two new special counsel have joined the firm. Timothy Bickham, 36, is a member of the intellectual property group and will focus on litigating patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Most recently he was a senior associate with Arnold & Porter. He received his LL.M. from George Washington University Law School and his J.D. from the University of Missouri Columbia School of Law. Jonathan Drimmer, 35, focuses his practice on complex litigation. Most recently, he was the deputy director of the Office of Special Investigations at the Department of Justice. He earned his J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law. VAN NESS FELDMAN Robert Christin, 57, has joined Van Ness Feldman as of counsel. Most recently, he was associate general counsel for energy projects at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Christin earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. VORYS, SATER Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease partner Glenn Whitaker has extended his practice to Washington, D.C. Whitaker, 57, is a former Justice Department official who specializes in False Claims Act litigation. He will also continue to work out of his Cincinnati office. Whitaker received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. WILEY REIN & FIELDING John Barry has rejoined Wiley Rein & Fielding as a partner in the communications practice. Barry, 44, was most recently a partner at Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek in San Diego.
