An investigation into chip industry price-fixing has led to an unusual hearing on grand jury contempt. On Thursday, the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals explored whether the Fifth Amendment protects someone in possession of corporate documents. Too bad no one got to hear it. The case file is sealed and when the matter came up for argument, the three-judge panel -- Senior Judges Procter Hug Jr. and William Canby Jr. and Judge Richard Tallman -- cleared the court.
