Atheist Michael Newdow's quixotic fight against the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance came to an end Monday as the Supreme Court ruled 5-3 that he did not have standing to bring his suit. Though avoiding the merits of the case, the majority ruling, along with three separate concurrences, suggests the justices would decide in favor of the Pledge if a future challenge were to be made.
