Am I correct in reading that the registered sex offender Poslof’s failure to register both of his residences with the Big Brother resulted in a 27-years-to-life sentence? [ People v. Poslof, 04 C.D.O.S. 4939] I really shouldn’t have to say any more than that as it speaks for itself. The United States has quickly become the abhorred enemy of the free world, the entire world for that matter, and despite what the U.S. citizens think they know, the world is justified in believing it is seriously threatened by the U.S. The afore-referenced determination by California’s highest court adequately expresses the cause for that fear. Things have gotten so askew that the benchmark for justice is horribly perverted and continues its downward spiral while society is busy being addicted to television, consumerism and fear of terrorism, so it doesn’t notice how off-center it has become. Don’t get me wrong, I like it here. I am an immigrant and have lived here for 20 years and have had a great time. However, I cannot become a citizen at this time because I cannot swear allegiance to the things currently running the government. To do so would be like being a Jew in Germany in 1944 and swearing allegiance to Hitler. Just because they are in power does not make them right. I just want to say it greatly saddens me to see a country that could do so much good, could be the bastion of light and a source of hope for so many people, could be the leader to a prosperous and beautiful 21st and 22nd century, become not unlike a paranoid bipolar PTSD victim refusing treatment and given the steering wheel of a car speeding out of control. I won’t have children because I do not want their children to enter the ugly, ugly devastation we are leaving for them. You cannot seriously tell me the world will look better in 30 years time unless you already live in absolute squalor, for if you have paid any attention to what conservative scientists have repeatedly been telling us, you’ll know what I mean.
