Cooper Levenson Employees Raise $20K for United Way Cooper Levenson April Niedelman & Wagenheim of Atlantic City recently held a fundraising campaign among its employees for the United Way of Atlantic County. More than $20,000 was raised in pledges and donations during a two-week period. Employees donated in various ways, including payroll deductions and silent auctions. The campaign ended with a lunchtime celebration for all employees. Abed Awad Discusses Islamic Law With Women Lawyers in Union County On Nov. 19, Abed Awad, a solo practitioner in Clifton, spoke to the Women Lawyers in Union County about the interplay between Islamic law and New Jersey divorce law. Awad addressed the enforcement of the Mahr contract in civil divorce proceedings. Annual Holiday Party & Charity Event Hosted By NJDA Committees On Dec. 9, the New Jersey Defense Association’s Young Lawyers Committee hosted its annual holiday party and charity event at Porzio, Bromberg & Newman in Morristown. The event was co-sponsored this year by the NJDA’s Products Liability and Employment Law Committees. Attendees collected winter scarves, hats and gloves, as well as nonperishable food items and money, to be donated to the Market Street Mission in Morristown, which provides assistance to the needy in surrounding communities.
