MORRISON & FOERSTER NAMES 14 ATTORNEYS TO PARTNERSHIP Morrison & Foerster announced Thursday that it has elevated 14 lawyers to its partnership. Six are based at the firm’s San Francisco headquarters, and 10 of the new partners are litigators. With the elevations, 979-attorney MoFo has 323 partners. The 2004 class is about 55 percent larger than last year’s class of nine new partners. The new partners in San Francisco are all litigators. They include 1992 Stanford Law School graduates Alison Tucher, a former deputy district attorney in Santa Clara County, and D. Anthony “Tony” West, who held posts as special assistant attorney general for California and special assistant to the deputy attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice prior to joining MoFo. West practices civil litigation and criminal law. Tucher practices complex civil litigation, as do new partners James McGuire, a 1996 graduate of the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law, and Andrew Muhlbach, a 1994 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. New partner Dorothy Fernandez, a 1996 graduate of Harvard Law School, practices securities litigation. And Stuart Plunkett, who graduated in 1995 from Northwestern University School of Law, specializes in complex commercial disputes. The Palo Alto office gained one new partner, John Hou, a 1995 graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law who is a member of the firm’s technology transactions group. In the Walnut Creek office, litigator Roger Collanton, also a 1995 Boalt Hall graduate, and land use and environmental attorney Alicia Guerra, a 1996 graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law, joined the partnership. In the Washington, D.C., office, the firm elevated of counsel Beth Brinkmann, a 1985 graduate of Yale Law School who served as assistant to the solicitor general of the United States before joining MoFo. Other new partners include labor and employment lawyer Richard Bergstrom III, a 1993 graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law, in the firm’s San Diego office; litigator Steven Comer, a 1991 graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Law, in the Irvine office; litigator Peter Davis, a 1993 graduate of the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University, in the McLean, Va., office; and corporate lawyer Neil Foster, a 1994 graduate of the College of Law, England, in the London office.
