AMERICAN COLLEGE OF REAL ESTATE LAWYERS The American College of Real Estate Lawyers has elected Venable partner Philip Horowitz as vice president. Membership in the college is by invitation only, and nominations are based on outstanding professional reputation and demonstrated ability in the field of real estate law. Horowitz will take the position in January for a calendar-year term. HHS AWARD OF DISTINCTION John Kemp, a partner at Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville, has been honored with an award of distinction from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for his “ongoing commitment and strong leadership in improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities.” Kemp, who was born without hands and feet, is a disability rights activist and lawyer. MARYLAND SCHOOL OF BUSINESS Linda Morgan, a partner at Covington & Burling, has been named “Person of the Year” by the Logistics, Transportation, and Supply Chain Management Society and the Supply Chain Club of the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. Morgan has been honored for her outstanding contributions to the logistics, transportation, and supply chain management industry. The Logistics, Transportation, and Supply Chain Management Society and the Supply Chain Club provide career development opportunities, networking, and placement for Smith School students. NIGHTINGALE HEALTHCARE AWARD Seth Lundy, a senior associate at Fulbright & Jaworski, has been named one of the nation’s “Outstanding Young Healthcare Lawyers — 2003″ by the Nightingale Healthcare News, a newsletter for professionals serving the health care industry.
