A San Francisco jury has awarded a 9-year-old boy $70.9 million in compensatory damages after finding a hospital and a medical clinic negligent for failing to diagnose his metabolic disease. The award could be among the biggest in the state this year. In 2002, the top 10 jury awards were about $70 million or more, while the top 25 cut off at about $14 million.
