Laterals Baker & McKenzie: Four Jenkens & Gilchrist of Dallas attorneys have joined the firm’s Dallas-based North American health care practice. Partner R. Kenneth Gordon leads the group made up of partner Wilson G. Jones and associates Nneka Egbuniwe and Pamela Nix. Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner (New York): Lisa Holstein is a new real estate partner based in the firm’s home office. She served previously as counsel at New York firms Schulte Roth & Zabel and Proskauer Rose. Dewey Ballantine (New York): Finance and capital markets attorney Philipp von Ilberg joins as a Frankfurt, Germany-based partner, making the move from Clifford Chance P�nder. Nossaman Guthner Knox & Elliott (San Francisco): Charles S. Fiedler has come aboard as a partner with the health care practice group based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Prior to joining Nossaman, Fiedler was a partner at Washington-based ShawPittman. Piper Rudnick: Jonathan M. Moulton and Lawrence A. Gold have moved from Boston’s Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault to join as partners with the firm’s corporate and securities and emerging companies practice based in Boston. The newly arrived attorneys have a particular focus on technology companies and venture capital firms. Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis (Philadelphia): The New York office of the firm has added Kenneth R. Puhala (partner in litigation services) and Alexander P. Moon (partner in business services). Moon is accompanied by associate Emma H.C. Lee. Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler (Baltimore): Moving from Venable, corporate attorney William A. McComas has joined as a partner. McComas’ practice, in which he represents clients in complex transactions, overlaps the areas of business, law and technology. Sughrue Mion (Washington): Attorney and patent agent Yoshi Kishimoto has been named a partner and will be based in the Tokyo office. His practice is focused on patent litigation and prosecution related to the electrical and mechanical arts. Venable (Baltimore): After a nine-year stint, Mark K. Braswell has left the Securities and Exchange Commission to join the firm’s corporate governance practice group, resident in Washington. He will help business and industry clients deal with changes in securities law regulation and other governance issues. Weil, Gotshal & Manges (New York): Elizabeth Stotland Weiswasser, working out of the New York and Washington offices, has rejoined as a partner in the life sciences and intellectual property practices. She returns to the firm from Washington’s Covington & Burling. New counsel Foley & Lardner: Senior counsel David P. Lentini, whose practice concentrates on chemical, pharmaceutical and software patent issues, has joined the San Francisco office. Prior to coming aboard, he was senior intellectual property director at Kosan Biosciences Inc. Firm management Dorsey & Whitney (Minneapolis): Thomas W. Tinkham has been selected to head the firm’s home office of more than 330 attorneys. New partner-in-charge Tinkham also chairs the commercial litigation group and serves on the executive committee. Moving outside Black, Srebnick, Kornspan & Stumpf (Miami): Founding partner, trial lawyer and legal commentator Roy Black is joining NBC News (which includes cable channels MSNBC and CNBC) as a legal analyst. He will maintain his practice, which has brought him exposure in his successful defense of William Kennedy Smith and his current representation of WorldCom Inc. Chief Financial Officer Scott Sullivan. Elected Pamela C. Enslen has been elected to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates, the policy-making body of the ABA. Enslen, senior counsel in the Kalamazoo, Mich., office of Detroit-based Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, also was appointed to the ABA’s Standing Committee of Federal Judicial Improvements. Stephanie A. Scharf, Chicago-based Jenner & Block partner and co-chairwoman of the products liability and mass tort defense practice, is the 2003-2004 president-elect of the National Association of Women Lawyers, an affiliate of the American Bar Association. Appointed Thomas J. Curran, counsel in New York’s Edwards & Angell’s litigation group and former assistant district attorney, has been appointed by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to the Mayor’s Committee on City Marshals. The committee identifies and recommends New York City marshal candidates. James A. Gale of Miami-based boutique firm Feldman Gale & Weber has been named chairman of the Florida Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Committee. He is a registered patent attorney who specializes in intellectual property litigation. Firm mergers Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe has announced that Venture Law Group, a technology and early-stage company law firm, is merging with, and becoming part of, Heller Ehrman. The Venture Law Group name and mark will be used for the conjoined firm’s emerging-growth company practice, but otherwise, the Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe name will be retained. Seyfarth Shaw (Chicago): In one of the largest recent mergers of Chicago-based law firms, D’Ancona & Pflaum and Seyfarth Shaw have joined forces. Adding 60 D’Ancona attorneys to its roster brings Seyfarth Shaw to almost 600 lawyers nationwide. Movers is compiled and written by Roger Adler.
