COVINGTON & BURLING Partner Kurt Wimmer has recently returned to the D.C. office of Covington & Burling after a stint in the London office as managing partner. He concentrates on media practice, including content and policy issues, as well as international media. Wimmer, 44, is a graduate of the Syracuse University College of Law. ECKER SEAMANS CHERIN AND MELLOTT Two attorneys have joined Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott’s litigation division as associates in the D.C. office. Mark Johnston, 29, specializes in product-liability defense and was most recently an associate at Jordan Coyne & Savits. He is a graduate of Tulane Law School. Erica Perkins, 26, will specialize in civil litigation and is a graduate of George Washington University Law School. FOLEY & LARDNER Former Securities & Exchange Commission attorney Elizabeth Gray has joined the D.C. office of Foley & Lardner as a senior counsel in the securities litigation and compliance, counseling, and government enforcement practice group. At the SEC, Gray most recently served as assistant director of the division of enforcement and counsel to former SEC Chairman Arthur Levitt. Gray, 44, is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. KING & SPALDING Zack Harmon, 34, has returned to the D.C. office of King & Spalding as counsel with the special matters group, which includes corporate fraud issues. Most recently, Harmon served as counsel to Deputy Attorney General Larry Thompson. Harmon is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law. SANDS ANDERSON MARKS & MILLER Richmond, Va.-based Sands Anderson Marks & Miller has announced two new additions to the firm. William Tiller joins as counsel in the risk management practice group and was most recently the managing partner of Morris & Morris in Richmond. Tiller, 39, is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School. George Peterson joins as an associate in the McLean, Va., office and will practice in the business and professional liability and the health care practice groups. He was most recently a litigation associate at Hancock, Daniel, Johnson & Nagle. Peterson, 31, is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia has recently added three new assistant U.S. attorneys. Alan Burch joins the Civil Division. He was most recently with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, as a senior attorney. Burch, 38, is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. John Griffith joins the Fraud and Public Corruption Section of the Criminal Division. He was most recently in the Fraud Section of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division. Griffith, 43, is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law. Wendy Short joins the Community Prosecution/Grand Jury/Intake Section of the D.C. Superior Court Division. She was most recently a trial attorney in the Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section in the Criminal Division of the the U.S. Department of Justice.
