INLAND EMPIRE GETS THREE NEW JUDGES Gov. Gray Davis filled three bench vacancies in Riverside and San Bernardino counties Tuesday. In Riverside, the governor appointed Craig Riemer, a senior attorney with the Fourth District Court of Appeal, Division Two. Riemer works for Justice Art McKinster and has been with the court since 1990. Before that, he practiced mostly business and real estate litigation with several firms in the area. Riemer, 48, attended UCLA School of Law. In San Bernardino, Davis appointed Marsha Slough and David Williams. Slough, 45, works at Welebir & McCune, where she represents personal injury plaintiffs. Previously, she worked on behalf of insurers and government agencies. She has also worked at other firms in the Inland Empire region. Until her most recent job, she was a partner at Raynes & Slough. She attended Whittier Law School. Williams, 53, will leave Bell, Orrock & Watase, where he’s been since 1988, to head to the bench. Williams practices insurance defense. He also served as the general counsel for the California Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Foundation from 1983 to 2000. Williams also went to Whittier. Each of the new judges will earn $139,476 per year. – Jeff Chorney
