The worry is over for Concord EFS, Inc. After seeing its stock price fall from $35.06 a share in May 2002 to $7.80 this past March, the Memphis-based operator of the nation’s largest ATM network agreed on April 2 to be acquired by First Data Corp. for $6.7 billion in stock, about $13.87 per Concord share. The deal came less than a month after Concord started to explore a sale. Colorado-based First Data owns Western Union Financial Services Inc. and is a competitor of Concord.
