ALSTON & BIRD Dennis Garrishas been elected partner in the D.C. office of Alston & Bird. Garris’ practice will focus on mergers and acquisitions, domestic and international tender offers, contested proxy solicitations, going-private transactions, and related matters. Garris, 36, received his law degree and master of taxation from the University of Akron School of Law. BROWN & GIDDING The firm of Brown & Freeston has changed its name to Brown & Gidding with the addition of name partner Michael Gidding.Former name partner Margaret Freeston has become of counsel to the firm. Gidding, formerly of the Office of Compliance of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, specializes in matters involving the Federal Hazardous Substances Act, the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, and consumer product recalls and defect reporting. Gidding, 55, is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law. CROWELL & MORING Robin Teskinand Samir Elamranihave left Pillsbury Winthrop for Crowell & Moring’s D.C. office. Teskin, 44, joins as a partner and Elamrani, 41, joins as counsel. Both specialize in intellectual property law, with Teskin focusing primarily on patent law, and Elamrani concentrating on strategic IP counseling and global patent portfolio development and management. Teskin earned her law degree at George Washington University Law School. Elamrani earned his law degree at the University of Houston Law Center. JONES DAY Vladimir Lechtmanhas rejoined the D.C. office of Jones Day as a partner. Lechtman, who worked in Jones Day’s Washington and London offices as an associate from 1987 to 1994, had been a partner in the D.C. office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. Lechtman, 47, specializes in cross-border merger and acquisition and capital markets transactions and will coordinate Jones Day’s practice in Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. KILPATRICK STOCKTON The D.C. office of Kilpatrick Stockton has expanded its antitrust practice with the addition of senior associate Vanessa Chandler.Chandler, 37, was with Bryan Cave and will focus her practice on antitrust and trade regulation. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. PILLSBURY WINTHROP The D.C. office of Pillsbury Winthrop has brought on Mark Riedyas a partner. Previously of Thelen, Reid & Priest’s D.C. office, Riedy concentrates his practice on energy, environment, communications, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing and technology, with an emphasis on project development and asset finance. Riedy, 50, is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. WATT, TIEDER, HOFFAR & FITZGERALD Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald recently added a new partner, James Donahue,and a new associate, Jowita Wysocka,to its Tysons Corner, Va., office. Donahue, 34, concentrates his practice on general contract litigation, with a focus on complex construction litigation, government contracts, and suretyship law. He earned his law degree at Villanova University School of Law. Wysocka, 31, focuses on international construction litigation and government contracts. Wysocka was an associate with New York’s Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker.
