The four years it took to reach the $495,000 verdict against E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., for poisoning three Pompton Lakes residents with toxic runoff from a defunct chemical plant, might end up being the easy part.
Pending are related claims involving 1,600 other plaintiffs in Passaic County, where the verdict was rendered, plus another 500 in federal court in Newark.
