Joe Cannon did just that, and years later his behavior was given what many see as tacit disapproval by the U.S. Supreme Court, which decided Monday to let stand a lower court’s decision to give Cannon’s client, death row inmate Calvin Burdine, a new trial.
In other words, the court let sleeping dogs lie.
