A consultant has been sentenced to prison for facilitating fraudulent safety inspections at New York City construction sites. Richard Marini was sentenced by Manhattan Acting Supreme Court Justice Daniel Conviser Tuesday to serve one to three years in prison.

Marini and his company, Avanti Building Consultants, were previously indicted along with six other individuals and one company. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said all of the defendants had been convicted of various related crimes. On Oct. 19, Marini pleaded guilty to grand larceny in the second degree.
