Winston & Strawn has recruited a partner to its Taipei office.
Horng-Dar Lin is coming aboard from Sovereign Law Office, a Taipei-based firm he founded last year. He advises companies in the information technology, telecommunication and pharmaceuticals sectors on transactional and contentious intellectual property matters.
Before founding his own practice, Lin spent two and half years as vice president responsible for intellectual property at Foxconn Technology Group, a Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturer which makes Apple Inc.’s iPad. Before that, he worked as an IP lawyer in Taipei for both local firm Lexcel Partners and Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner. He began his career as a Taipei District Court judge.
Winston & Strawn opened in Taipei in April. Lin is the second partner in that office besides managing partner John Alison, who divides his time between Taipei and D.C. Globally, the firm has more than 820 lawyers in 18 offices.
