Morrison & Foerster has added a partner to its Singapore office.

Former Shearman & Sterling counsel Shirin Tang, who joins the firm on April 21, will advise on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions.

Tang was part of the Shearman team that advised Swiss chocolate maker Barry Callebaut AG on its 2012 acquisition of the cocoa ingredients division of Singapore’s Petra Foods Inc. for $950 million. She has also worked for China Investment Corp., as well as other sovereign wealth funds and private equity investors based in Asia.

A lawyer with Shearman for nine years, Tang worked for the firm in New York for six years before relocating to her native Singapore in 2010. She began her legal career at Drew & Napier.

Morrison & Foerster’s Singapore office, which opened last year, now has 11 lawyers, including six partners. The firm employs more than 1,000 lawyers in 17 offices worldwide.
