Mark Fairbairn has joined DLA Piper from O’Melveny & Myers, where he was a partner on the Hong Kong corporate finance team. At DLA Piper, he will serve in the newly created role of head of Asia restructuring.

Fairbairn advises on distressed and alternative investments, financial restructurings and insolvency matters, acting for banks, hedge funds and private equity firms.

He moved to O’Melveny five years ago from White & Case, where he was also a partner. He joined White & Case in 2003 from Deacons, where he was a partner as well.

Another O’Melveny restructuring lawyer, Singapore-based of counsel Ashley Bell, is also joining DLA Piper next month. Former O’Melveny Singapore corporate counsel Timothy Tan moved to DLA Piper in early January, becoming a partner in Bangkok.

With the arrival of Fairbairn and Bell, DLA Piper now has 125 lawyers in Hong Kong, including 34 partners. The firm employs 4,200 lawyers in 30 countries worldwide.
