A man who was convicted of shooting a police officer was denied a fair trial by a judge who made legal errors and displayed an “antagonistic attitude” to defense counsel, a state appeals court ruled last week.
A unanimous panel of the Appellate Division, Second Department, ruled in People v. Zayas, 2008-05444, 2008-05719, that Raymond Zayas must receive a new trial.
