Gumption is back at many big firms.
2011 began with a bang in lateral partner movement in Northern California: In the first half of the year, 158 partners left their firms for another law firm or in-house department. That almost matched the 165 moves for all of 2010, according to the numbers compiled by recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa.
