The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday wiped out $601,000 in sanctions against the U.S. attorney’s office and reprimands against two assistant U.S. attorneys for misconduct in the prosecution of a Miami Beach doctor.

Federal prosecutors Sean Cronin and Andrea Hoffman were subject to an inquiry and a scathing ruling by U.S. District Judge Alan Gold in Miami in 2009. He referred his findings to the lawyers’ bars for potential discipline and ordered the U.S. attorney’s office to pay the defense and court costs of Dr. Ali Shaygan, who was acquitted.
