An earthquake hit the Hong Kong legal scene last week, and Kirkland & Ellis was its name.

The news Wednesday morning that Chicago-based Kirkland had recruited eight partners from three different firms, including superstars Nicholas Norris and Dominic Tsun of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, and David Zhang of Latham & Watkins, quickly became the talk of the town among corporate lawyers.
