Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has selected land use attorney Mary Murphy to be partner in charge of San Francisco as the office kicks into hiring mode.

Murphy, who joined Gibson Dunn in 2006 from Farella Braun & Martel, was asked by the firm’s management committee to take over the role from partner Frederick Brown, who is stepping down after six years. Murphy has been a member of Gibson’s five-attorney management committee for about two years.
