A former office manager at Bathgate, Wegener & Wolf in Lakewood, N.J., who spent 30 years at the firm, admitted embezzling $1.14 million over six years, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey announced Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Kathleen Baker diverted the money from firm accounts, though Bathgate Wegener managing partner Lawrence Bathgate says she stole the money from a real estate partnership that leases office space to the firm and is partially owned by him.
