A federal judge accepted the guilty plea Wednesday of Roosevelt Hairston Jr., the former general counsel of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia who admitted embezzling approximately $1.7 million from the institution since 1999.

At the hearing before U.S. District Court Judge Lawrence Stengel, Hairston’s attorney, Howard Bruce Klein, disagreed with Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Gray as to Hairston’s offense level, which would impact his recommended sentence.
