Southern District Judge Colleen McMahon today spared three of four men convicted in a terrorist bomb plot from life in prison, saying their crime never would have been committed without the government’s sting operation.
While calling the actions of James Cromitie, Onta Williams and David Williams “beyond despicable” and ordering them each to prison for 25 years, the judge nonetheless said the three men lacked the imagination, ability and means to bomb synagogues in Riverdale and shoot down military planes, and that they proceeded with the plot only at the inducement of a lying government informant.
