A federal putative class action filed in Trenton alleges that a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary knowingly sold faulty hip implants, often leading to painful corrective surgery.

The suit is part of a large, nationwide field of actions brought against DePuy Orthopaedics pertaining to its ASR hip-replacement systems. As of December, there were at least 139 federal suits and 42 state court suits pending with many more expected.
